Jinan to staff first Chinese school in Brazil with teachers

The eastern Chinese city of Jinan will deploy teachers to staff the first Chinese school in Brazil, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Sina reports.

The Chinese news website says the Jinan Education Department will begin by sending to Brazil in September a teacher of  Chinese, a teacher of mathematics and a teacher of English.

The purpose of the new school is to export Chinese methods of education and Chinese culture, Sina says.

When the intention to establish the school was announced last year, other news media reported that the increase in Sino-Brazilian economic engagement meant more Brazilians wished to study Chinese culture and the Chinese language, and that the new school was meant to meet that demand.
