A one-day conference to promote Chinese traditional medicine in the lusophone world has been held in Lisbon, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Cai Run as telling the conference that the practice of Chinese traditional medicine has been expanding swiftly since Portugal became the first European country to legislate on it.
The report says Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park President Lu Hong announced an arrangement for connecting young practitioners of Chinese traditional medicine in China and in lusophone countries.
It says representatives of the industrial park and the Cabo Verde Health Ministry signed an agreement to co-operate more in the field of Chinese traditional medicine.
Among the 300 or so people attending the event were Macao Chief Executive Chui Sai On, and representatives of government agencies, business associations and distributors of Chinese traditional medicine in China, the European Union and Africa, Xinhua says.
