Lusophone journalists gather in Beijing for course on China

Journalists from Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and São Tomé e Príncipe have gathered in Beijing for a course on China given by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Angop reports.

The Angolan state-run news agency quotes a Chinese official, Li Hengtian, as saying the purpose of the seminar is to give lusophone journalists greater political confidence in China and vice-versa, and to increase trade between China and the Portuguese-speaking world.

The report quotes an Angolan senior journalist, António Mascarenhas, as saying the course is an opportunity to increase international understanding among members of the news media.

Those taking the course will visit Chinese newspapers, radio stations and television stations, and have discussions with Chinese media workers, the report says.

The course ends on 12 August, Angop says.
