Macao and Guinea-Bissau mutual platforms for co-operation: IPIM

Macao and Guinea-Bissau “can complement each other” as platforms for economic and other forms of co-operation by using the Portuguese language as a bridge “between Asia and West Africa,” said the President of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Jackson Chang.

Mr Chan was speaking on the sidelines of the Business Meeting between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, which ended on Monday in the Guinean capital, Bissau.

The President of IPIM said — as quoted by Portuguese news agency Lusa — the complementary relationship between Macao and the African country is still at an early stage. “We would like to come back and study [the situation] further,” he said.

Approximately 150 official and business representatives from Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mainland China and Macau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor took part in the business meeting. The event was aimed at discussing economic and trade co-operation.
