Macao businessman becomes honorary consul of Guinea-Bissau

Guinea-Bissau has appointed Macao businessman Chan Meng Kam as its honorary consul in Macao, the Macao Daily News reports.

The newspaper says Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao Special Administrative Region Ye Dabo recently presented the honorary consul with the necessary certificate.

The report quotes Mr Ye as saying co-operation between China and Guinea-Bissau has developed well in recent years, especially co-operation in farming, infrastructure and public health.

Mr Ye hopes the new honorary consul will help Macao perform its function as a place where China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries can conduct business – and Mr Chan hopes so, too, the Macao Daily News says.
