Macao businessman vows to encourage Chinese investment in Cape Verde

David Chow, Chief Executive and Co-Chairman of Macau Legend Development, says he will encourage more Chinese businessmen and companies to invest in Cape Verde, in different areas of the economy.

Mr Chow made the comments to local reporters after a meeting between representatives from the China-Africa Development Fund and Cape Verde’s Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva.

“I think the Prime Minister is very determined in doing something positive for Cape Verde’s economy, and that’s encouraging,” Mr Chow said, quoted by local newspaper A Semana.

Gaming services company Macau Legend Development – co-chaired by Mr Chow – is developing a 250-million euros (US$279.7-million) casino resort in Cape Verde.

“The Prime Minister asked me to bring more investment to Cape Verde and I have vowed to try to bring some Chinese businessmen and companies, from different areas, such as agriculture, finance and others,” he reportedly added.
