Macao, Cape Verde aim to stress collaboration in cultural, creative industries

Macao and Cape Verde are willing to make co-operation in cultural and creative industries one of the main purposes of their relationship, the Macao SAR Government says.

The government issued a written statement saying this was an outcome of talks in Macao between Macao Secretary of Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chon Weng and Cape Verde Minister of Culture and Creative Industries Abraão Vicente.

The statement quotes Mr Tam and Mr Vicente as speaking approvingly of current co-operation between Macao and Cape Verde, particularly in tourism and education.

Mr Tam emphasised the functions of Macao as place where China and the Portuguese-speaking world can conduct business, and as a place for cultural exchanges.

Mr Vicente said many Cape Verdean students educated in Macao had contributed appreciably to the development of tourism in his country.
