Macao Chief Executive Chui Sai On to visit Portugal in May

Macao Chief Executive Chui Sai On will make a nine-day official visit to Portugal next month to attend a meeting of the Macao-Portugal Joint Committee, with a view to increasing co-operation by Macao and Portugal, the Macao government says.

The Government Information Bureau issued a written statement saying Mr Chui will have talks with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and with Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa.

The statement says that while in Lisbon Mr Chui will open an exhibition of photographs and play the host at a reception to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, and meet Macao students attending Portuguese universities.

Mr Chui will subsequently visit the northern Portuguese city of Oporto, where he and Mayor Rui Moreira will sign an agreement to co-operate, the Macao government says.
