Macao completes training of tourism officials from some Portuguese-speaking Countries

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has completed this year’s training of tourism officials from several Portuguese-speaking Countries, the bureau said on Tuesday.

A total of 25 civil servants joined the programme at different stages. They came from Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, East Timor and Angola, according to the tourism bureau. The last batch of participants finished their training at the end of last week.

Training started in April in Macao. It included instruction at MGTO and workshops at Macao’s Institute for Tourism Studies, as well as field trips to tourism sites and tourism infrastructure, the bureau said in a statement.

According to the press release, between 2012 and 2015, MGTO trained a total of 98 tourism officials from those five Portuguese-speaking Countries. The training followed memoranda of understanding on co-operation in tourism signed in the past few years by Macao and each of those countries respectively.

The training programme was co-organised by MGTO and the Support Office of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao.
