A new literary agency for authors from Asia and from Portuguese-speaking countries, Capítulo Oriental, has opened in Macao, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Capítulo Oriental Director Hélder Beja as saying the purpose is “to bring the authors of the Portuguese-speaking countries to this continent and to take some Asian writers, including writers from Macau, to Portugal, Brazil and other places”.
The report says the agency already represents over 60 authors hailing from lusophone countries, Greater China, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Australia.
Capítulo Oriental will also arrange for translation of Portuguese works into Chinese and vice-versa, Lusa quotes Mr Beja as saying. “I think there is a lot of potential to make known the Portuguese language literature here, as well as do the opposite with authors not only Chinese,” he said.
