Macao, lusophone bankers agree to arrange more exchanges

The Macao Association of Bankers, and its counterparts in Portugal, Mozambique, Guiné-Bissau and São Tomé e Príncipe have agreed to facilitate more exchanges between commercial banks in Macao and the Portuguese-speaking world, Jornal do Cidadão reports.

The Macao newspaper says representatives of the associations signed an agreement to that effect at a meeting in Macao arranged by the Macao Association of Bankers with the help of the Macao branch of Bank of China.

The agreement envisages the eventual establishment of an alliance of commercial banks in Macao and the lusophone countries, so that banks in those countries can do business in Mainland China and financial services available to Chinese investors in lusophone countries can be improved.

The Macao Association of Bankers, the Macao Institute of Financial Services, and the associations of banks and other financial institutions in Guiné-Bissau agreed at the same meeting to co-operate in arranging occupational training, Jornal do Cidadão reports.
