Macau, Cape Verde to co-operate further in education

Macau is willing to co-operate further with Cape Verde in the field of education and culture, local newspaper Jornal Tribuna de Macau reported on Tuesday.

Macau’s Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam, expressed the sentiment during a meeting last week in Beijing with Cape Verde’s Ambassador to China, Tânia Romualdo.

Mr Tam said – as quoted by the media outlet – he wished to expand the support provided to young people from Cape Verde willing to study in Macau. He also said he hoped to enhance co-operation between the two sides regarding the education of Cape Verdeans within the country; in order to expand the African nation’s capacity for research.

The Secretary added Macau could play a role in the training of young people from Cape Verde interested in tourism-related studies.

Ms Romualdo noted how relations between Macau and Cape Verde have been strengthened, particularly in the field of tertiary education, the newspaper reported.
