Mainland economy grew 6.7 pct last year, says leading economic planner

The Mainland economy grew about 6.7 percent last year, according to the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

The report from government-run news agency Xinhua cites Xu Shaoshi, the commission’s chairman, who says the size of the economy exceeded 70 trillion yuan (US$10.1 trillion) last year.

The Mainland economy grew by 6.7 percent in the first three quarters of last year. The Government set an official target of between 6.5 percent and 7 percent.

Mr Xu told a press conference on Tuesday that the Government’s economic structural reforms and new sources of growth would contribute to a reasonable rate of growth this year.
