Mainland gives Guinea-Bissau armed forces vehicles, office equipment

Beijing has given vehicles and office equipment worth 2 million euro (US$2.1 million) to the armed forces of Guinea-Bissau, TSF reports.

The Portuguese radio station says Chinese Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, Wang Hua, attended this week the turnover of 10 buses, 10 jeeps, 200 desktop computers, 120 laptop computers and several other items of office equipment to Guinea-Bissau Defence Minister Eduardo Sanhá.

The report quotes Mr Wang as saying the gesture reflects the friendship between his country and Guinea-Bissau, and the commitment of China to the development of Guinea-Bissau.

Mr Sanhá stressed what he called the “quality of co-operation” between China and Guinea-Bissau in defence matters.

He said China had taken part in several infrastructure projects in Guinea-Bissau, TSF reports.
