Mainland hopes to expand co-operation efforts with Cape Verde, says Ambassador Du

Beijing is eager to further its co-operation efforts with Cape Verde in the maritime economy, energy and tourism sectors, the Inforpress news agency reports.

The agency quoted the Mainland’s Ambassador Du Xiaocong, who stressed the “very good, excellent” relationship between the two countries in the past four decades.

“The maritime economy, energy and tourism industry are three sectors with great potential in Cape Verde,” Mr Du said. “China is interested in… promoting more projects if the two parties reach a consensus.”

He said a team of technicians would investigate the likelihood of an special economic zone in São Vicente and offer their suggestions. Mr Du also said the Mainland would continue to offer scholarships and grants to help train Cape Verdeans.
