Mainland should set growth target at 6.5 pct for next year: think tank

A growth target of about 6.5 percent should be established for the Mainland economy next year, a government-linked think tank told the China Securities Journal on Monday.

The State Information Centre of China, affiliated with the National Development and Reform Commission, says inflation would be kept at around 1.8 percent next year and retail sales would grow 10 percent in year-on-year terms.

Exports are forecast to fall by 3 percent and imports by 4 percent in year-on-year terms.

The Mainland’s economy grew by 6.7 percent over the first three quarters of this year. The government set an annual target of 6.5 to 7 percent for the year.
