Mainland to welcome international talent and technology, says Premier Li

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang says the Mainland will keep its doors open to talent and ideas from around the world, the Government-run news agency Xinhua reports.

Mr Li told a press conference at the National People’s Congress, the annual parliamentary session, that Beijing would strictly protect the intellectual property rights of foreign and local companies.

Mr Li stressed there would be no “hard landing” to the country’s growth, but instead maintain medium-to-high growth for a long time to come.

Recent falls in the yuan’s value against the US dollar were modest and the government would not revalue the currency to boost its exports, he told reporters.

In February, the Mainland recorded a monthly trade deficit for the first time in three years.
