Brazilian Economy Minister Paulo Guedes hopes China will contribute to the economic development of his country by increasing its investment in infrastructure, the oil and gas industry, and the logistics industry, the Chinese Embassy in Brasilia says.
The embassy issued a written statement quoting Mr Guedes as expressing his hope in talks with Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Yang Wanming.
Mr Guedes said Brazil regarded China as an important partner in trade and other economic matters, and hoped to expand Sino-Brazilian cooperation in technological innovation.
The statement quotes Mr Yang as saying China and Brazil should keep increasing their trade and their investment in each other, and cooperate more in building infrastructure, in exploiting energy and mineral resources, in coming up with finance, and in developing technology.
The development strategies of China and Brazil may be complementary, because China is opening its markets wider to the world outside, while Brazil is reforming economically and socially, the Chinese Embassy in Brasilia quotes Mr Yang as saying.
