Minister touts advantages of Cape Verde for Chinese investors  

Cape Verdean Minister of the Economy and Employment José da Silva Gonçalves has said the convenient situation of his country and its stability are enticements for Chinese investors, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Gonçalves as saying during a visit to Beijing that Cape Verde is situated “at a crossroads between four continents” and that China regards his county’s situation as advantageous.

The minister said Cape Verde was the only middle-income country in its part of Africa, and was politically, socially and economically stable.

Mr Gonçalves was in China for a World Tourism Organisation meeting.

He acknowledged the importance of the €250 million (US$299-million) tourist resort being developed in Cape Verde by Macau businessman David Chow, Lusa says.
