Mozambican park among new Chinese farm demo zones

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture has given permission for the establishment of agricultural demonstration zones in 10 countries, including Mozambique, to facilitate expansion of Chinese agriculture abroad, Reuters reports.

The news agency says the demonstration zones will be in places where Chinese companies already have agricultural ventures.

The report says the Chinese government will support the use of resources in those places by other Chinese enterprises.

In Mozambique, the demonstration zone will be the 52ha China-Mozambique Agricultural Technology Demonstration Centre, set up by a Hubei company in 2009.

The provincial authorities in Hubei say the Mozambican demonstration zone will grow crops and raise animals, process food and train farm workers, according to Reuters.
