Mozambique doubles the number of new jobs created in 2Q

The economy of Mozambique added 85,221 jobs in the second quarter of this year, the O País newspaper reports.

The report says the number of new jobs more than doubled from the 38,350 positions created in the first quarter.

“All provinces recorded growth in terms of new jobs, except the provinces of Niassa and Gaza, which had fewer jobs created partly due to the decline in investment,” the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Maria da Graça Mula Macuacua, was quoted as saying.

Manica Province and the city of Maputo were the outstanding locations for job growth between April and June, with 16,855 and 16,073 jobs created.
