Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi has said on Friday China will begin importing agricultural products from his country in February, AIM reports.
The Mozambican state-run news agency quotes Mr Nyusi as saying China will first buy over 60,000 tonnes of tobacco, so becoming the second-biggest buyer of Mozambican tobacco.
Mr Nyusi said Mozambique would also sell China next year over 90,000 tonnes of brown sugar, 150,000 tonnes of sesame seed, 30,000 tonnes of cashew nuts and 200,000 tonnes of pigeon peas.
The report says that at present only the United States buys Mozambican tobacco and only India buys Mozambican pigeon peas.
New markets will make Mozambican export business steadier, and improve the lives of Mozambican farmers, AIM quotes Mr Nyusi as saying.
