National Ballet of China performs in Portugal

The National Ballet of China has put on three performances in Portugal to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Portugal and the People’s Republic of China, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says the ballet company performed in Porto on Wednesday and in Lisbon on Saturday and Sunday.

The report says each performance of two hours or more included parts of three ballets: Giselle, the Chinese symphonic piece The Yellow River, and Carmen.

Agreement on events, including cultural festivals, in Portugal and China to celebrate the anniversary of diplomatic relations was reached when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Portugal last December, Xinhua says.
