New Chinese ambassador to Brazil presents credentials

Incoming Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Yang Wanming has presented his credentials at the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, the Chinese Embassy in Brasília says.

A written statement issued by the embassy quotes Mr Yang as saying he is honoured to take up his post during such an important stage in the development of Sino-Brazilian relations.

He said China and Brazil would work hand-in-hand to develop their relationship.

Brazil attaches great importance to the development of Sino-Brazilian relations and will actively support Mr Yang in the performance of his duties, the Chinese Embassy quotes Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Galvão as saying.

Separately, Sina News, a Chinese website, reports that Mr Yang represented China in Chile and Argentina before replacing Li Linzhang as Chinese Ambassador to Brazil.
