Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao Visits the General Administration of Customs of China

A delegation of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, visited on June 4 the headquarters of the General Administration of Customs of China in Beijing, in order to strengthen the communication ties between Forum Macao and government departments in mainland China, as well as to promote further the trade between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The delegation included Deputy Secretary-General Mr Ding Tian; Deputy Secretary-General Mr Rodrigo Brum; Deputy Secretary-General Ms Glória Batalha Ung; and the Representatives of the Portuguese-speaking Countries at Forum Macao.

The Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the General Administration of China Customs, Mr Zhang Baofeng, welcomed the Forum Macao delegation.

During the meeting, Mr Ding gave a brief presentation on the activities carried out by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, namely in relation to trade and investment promotion, education and culture. Mr Zhang, in turn, explained the work done by the General Administration of Customs of China, as well as the recent reform of quality control system in the customs’ operations.

The two sides exchanged opinions regarding easing of trade conditions, import and export guidelines, customs clearance and duty, inspection and quarantine, and on bilateral and multilateral cooperation in trade between Portuguese-speaking Countries and China.

The meeting aimed to promote better the mechanism of Forum Macao and the role of Macao as a platform, strengthening the communication ties between the two sides and deepening the investment and trade between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
