Portugal and Macao plan international incubator for 20 start-up companies

Portugal will offer office space in Lisbon and support up to 20 new companies from Macao and Mainland China, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency says 10 companies from Macao will be invited to a location on the Ribeira Market and that number may grow to 20 start-ups. A location in Macao to house Portuguese companies may also be identified as the scheme develops.

“The Macau Government, through its Economic Services [department], will have a space in Lisbon for 20 companies from China and Macao to be able to use Lisbon as a gateway to Europe and we will also have space here for our entrepreneurs to come to Macao and have a smooth landing,” Portugal’s Secretary of State for Industry João Vasconcelos said yesterday.

“We will be the first country in Europe to establish with China this kind of partnership, which allows any entrepreneur to have a more friendly environment [in which] to settle.”
