Portugal interested in supporting Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine park in overseas expansion

Portugal is willing to support the Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park, in its efforts to establish Traditional Chinese Medicine centres abroad. So said the company that manages the park, in a statement issued on Sunday. The facility, known as GMTCM, is located on the mainland’s Hengqin Island, next door to Macao.

A delegation led by Lu Hong, President of Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co Ltd, paid a visit recently to Portugal. Members of the delegation took part in a seminar with several representatives from the Portuguese central government’s public health and veterinary departments.

Participants in the meeting discussed paths for bilateral co-operation.

“The Portuguese side said it was willing to offer support to the park for the establishment of Traditional Chinese Medicine centres abroad,” the company said in the press release.

The visit to Portugal took place between June 23 and July 1 and included side trips to the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

The latest discussion with Portuguese health and veterinary officials was a follow-up from a November visit to Portugal by a delegation from the park.
