Portugal ready to welcome more Mainland investment in manufacturing

Portugal’s Economy Minister Manuel Caldeira Cabral says his government wants to attract more Mainland investment in manufacturing, Jornal de Negócios reports.

Mr Cabral was quoted as saying that Mainland companies have invested in assets, but the country wants to attract Chinese businesspeople “to manufacture [goods] for Europe from Portugal”.

Portugal was “a good gateway for Chinese companies [to enter the] European market,” Mr Cabral said, citing the country’s skilled workforce, its industrial sector and strategic location.

Mr Cabral recently took part in the Forum Boao for Asia, held in Hainan.
