Portuguese builder Alves Ribeiro SA has opened near Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport a shopping centre called Silk Road Paris, which sells Chinese goods, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency says Alves Ribeiro invested €150 million (about US$171 million) in the shopping centre, which covers 10 hectares and contains 400 shops.
The report quotes an official who advises the French government about China, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, as saying: “Trade is the best way for people to understand each other. And that’s why this centre makes sense.”
Lusa quotes a Chinese diplomat in Paris, Gao Yuanyuan, as saying: “This investment fits the joint development of the New Silk Road, as it became a trilateral project of France, China, and Portugal.”
