Portuguese, Chinese colleges in acupuncture teaching accord

The Setúbal Polytechnic Institute Health College in Portugal and the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China have agreed to co-operate in the teaching of acupuncture to undergraduates, Rostos reports.

The Portuguese news website says that, starting in the next academic year, undergraduate students of acupuncture at the institute will be able to study for an extra, fifth year in China.

The report says the arrangement will allow students belonging to the institute to engage in clinical practice at the two hospitals run by the Tianjin university, which attend to 10,000 patients a day, on average.

The agreement will remain in effect at least until 2021.
