The value of Portuguese exports rose to 30.38 billion euros (about US$34.4 billion) in the first half of this year, 2.9 percent more than a year earlier, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency, citing Portuguese official data, says the value of Portuguese imports in the first half rose by 9.3 percent to 40.65 billion euros.
According to Portugal’s National Institute of Statistics , the country’s first-half trade deficit thus grew by 34.3 percent to 10.27 billion euros.
The value of Portuguese exports and imports alike fell in June, 8.3 percent and 4.1 percent respectively, because the month contained fewer working days this year than last year, Xinhua says.
