Portuguese language teaching materials from Macau published in September

Portuguese language teaching materials drafted by Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) will be published in Mainland China in September, said the institute’s president, Lei Heong Iok.

The materials would meet the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, set up by the Council of Europe. They are also designed to meet the practical needs of Chinese students learning a foreign language, local newspaper Macao Daily News quoted Mr Lei as saying this week.

Professors from the University of Lisbon and the University of Coimbra in Portugal also helped draft the materials, Mr Lei added.

The institute also held this week the third edition of a summer training programme for Portuguese language teaching professionals from Mainland China universities. Mr Lei hoped the programme could enhance the quality of Portuguese teaching in the Mainland and strengthen Macau’s role as a co-operation and service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
