Portuguese trade, investment agency to open Guangzhou office

Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency President Luís Castro Henriques has said his agency will open in September an office in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, its fourth office in China, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Mr Henriques as telling a gathering in Guangzhou that the office there would make it easier for China and Portugal to trade with each other and invest in each other.

The report says the other Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency offices in China are in Beijing, Shanghai and Macao.

The Portuguese government is watching how the Chinese Belt and Road initiative unfolds, and would like the scheme to forge beneficial links between China and Portugal, Xinhua quotes Portuguese Consul-General in Guangzhou André Sobral Cordeiro as telling the same gathering.
