Road show in China touts tourist attractions of Portugal

Turismo de Portugal took a road show round China this month to advertise the attractions of Portugal for tourists, and to strengthen the ties between the tourism authority and the Chinese travel industry, TTG China reports.

The publication says a member of the board of Turismo de Portugal, Filipe Silva, led representatives of four travel agencies, nine hotels and three retailers in Portugal on a promotional tour that took them to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing between April 17 and April 20.

The report quotes Mr Silva as saying the road show was an important part of the Turismo de Portugal effort to penetrate the Chinese market.

About 256,700 Chinese visited Portugal last year, 40 percent more than the year before, TTG China says.
