São Paulo governor angles for Chinese investment

Governor João Doria of the Brazilian state of São Paulo has expressed hope that Chinese will invest in São Paulo, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says Mr Doria was speaking in China, where he leading a visiting party of representatives of 35 Brazilian companies.

The report says the party will visit the cities of Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai between August 3 and 10, looking for Chinese investment in 21 Brazilian projects, together worth about US$7 billion, in the fields of infrastructure, technology and services.

Mr Doria will attend the opening of a São Paulo government office in Shanghai, which is meant to help Chinese find opportunities to invest in São Paulo, the report says.

The governor is eager to learn about the fifth-generation wireless telecommunications technology sold by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd of China, Xinhua says.
