São Tomé e Príncipe ambassador to China presents credentials

Chinese President Xi Jinping has received the credentials of São Tomé e Príncipe Ambassador to China Isabel Mayza da Graça Domingos, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says the new envoy is the first ambassador of São Tomé e Príncipe in Beijing for two decades.

The report says that on the same day the Chinese President received the credentials of the ambassadors of six other countries and of the European Union.

Mr Xi said he hoped the envoys would enhance the friendships between the Chinese people and the peoples they represent, and promote mutually beneficial co-operation.

The new ambassadors congratulated China for putting on the Sino-African summit meeting held in Beijing last week, and praised new initiatives taken to promote Sino-African co-operation, Xinhua says.
