Seminar on Sino-Mozambican cooperation held in Maputo

A seminar on Sino-Mozambican cooperation held in Maputo concentrated on Chinese support for the development of Mozambique, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano and Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian were among the officials, academics, Chinese living in Mozambique and students that attended the seminar, held last week.

The report quotes Mr Chissano as telling the gathering that his country and China both aspire to achieve social justice and equality, uphold their sovereignty and independence, and unite their peoples; and that his country regarded the development of China as a model for its own development.

The prominence of Mozambique among the African countries China cooperates with has benefited Mozambican transport, healthcare, farming and education, Xinhua quotes Mr Su as saying.
