Shanxi promotes itself as attraction for European tourists

Representatives of the northern Chinese province of Shanxi visited Portugal last week to promote Sino-Portuguese trade, economic co-operation, tourism and cultural exchanges, the Shanxi Evening News reports.

The newspaper says the visitors were led by Communist Party of China Shanxi Provincial Committee Secretary Luo Huining, who had talks with Portuguese Communist Party Secretary-General Jerónimo de Sousa.

The report says Mr Luo was the host at an event held in Lisbon to promote the tourist attractions of Shanxi.

Representatives of Shanxi and of Portuguese, Spanish and German travel agencies signed various agreements on tourism with a view to increasing the number of European visitors to Shanxi, the Shanxi Evening News says.
