Shanghai Electric and Zhejiang Energy International Ltd of China, and Electrosul of Brazil have formed a joint venture to build and operate power transmission lines in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, Folha de São Paulo reports.
The Brazilian newspaper says Electrosul owns 27.5 percent of the joint venture, called SZE Transmissora de Energia Elétrica SA, that Shanghai Electric owns 44 per cent and Zhejiang Energy 28.5 percent.
SZE will spend about 4 billion reais (US$967.2 million) on building some 2,000 kilometres of power transmission lines by 2020 to bring electricity generated by yet-to-be built wind farms to 1.2 million people in the state, Folha de São Paulo says.
