The Chinese and Mozambican authorities have agreed to give priority to agriculture and natural resources in further co-operative efforts, Notícias reports.
The Mozambican newspaper says this was agreed at a meeting of Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi and Chinese National People’s Congress Standing Committee Chairman Li Zhanshu, who is visiting Mozambique.
Notícias quotes Mr Li as saying after a meeting with Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation José Pacheco that China has reaffirmed its interest in carrying on financing the Mozambican rice production programme and construction of Xai-Xai Airport in the province of Gaza.
Separately, the Macauhub news website quotes Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian as saying his country has given Mozambique US$10 million for its current agricultural campaign.
