The government of Guinea-Bissau and StarTimes of China have formed a partnership to bring digital terrestrial television to Guinea-Bissau, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Guinea-Bissau Minister of Media Vítor Pereira as telling a news conference: “The work is very advanced and will be concluded shortly.”
The minister said digital terrestrial television programming would be broadcast in Guinea-Bissau by a new company, a public-private partnership.
The government has said adoption of more modern broadcasting technology in Guinea-Bissau will be accompanied reform of the mass media there, which will include training of their employees and improvement of the equipment they use, Lusa reports.
