StarTimes offers to bring digital TV to São Tomé e Príncipe

StarTimes of China has undertaken to help modernise the state-run television and radio networks in São Tomé e Príncipe and to improve telecommunications there, STP-Press reports.

The São Tomé e Príncipe government-run news agency quotes StarTimes Executive Director Jorge Gu as saying so after a meeting with São Tomé e Príncipe Prime Minister Jorge Bom Jesus.

Mr Gu said: “We discussed how to bring digital television to all São Tomé e Príncipe families, and to improve its quality.”

The report quotes São Tomé e Príncipe Secretary of State for the Media Adelino Lucas as saying the technology used to bring about better television may also mean better education and culture, and more tourists.

StarTimes has also undertaken to send São Tomé e Príncipe journalists to its Mozambique delegation and to its China headquarters for training, STP-Press says.
