Talks about Mozambican power station near to reaching accord

Talks among Ncondezi Energy Ltd of Mozambique, General Electric South Africa Pty Ltd and China Machinery Engineering Corp. about building a coal-fired power station in the Mozambican province of Tete are in their final stage, Ncondezi Energy says.

Ncondezi Energy issued a written statement saying the parties are close to striking a binding deal to develop jointly a 300 MW power station and a coal mine to fuel it.

The statement says that during the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, executives of Ncondezi and its partners in the Tete project held meetings with Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, Tete Governor Paulo Aude and Mozambican Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Augusto de Sousa Fernando.

The Mozambican government again promised to support the project, the Ncondezi statement says.
