The Cape Verde Government has appointed Tânia Romualdo as its new Ambassador to China, replacing Júlio César Morais, who ended his 10-year tenure last month.
Cape Verde’s Foreign Minister Jorge Tolentino hosted a ceremony on Monday to appoint officially the nation’s four new Ambassadors –including Ms Romualdo – and a Consul-General, Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress reported.
“I’m sure they will do their best to represent the state and defend the national interests,” Mr Tolentino said at the ceremony. The Ambassadors “should be hard working and always available as Cape Verde is a small country with limited resources,” he added.
According to Cape Verde’s Government, Ms Romualdo was the Cabinet Director at the President’s Office before assuming the new post. She has also served in the country’s Embassies in Belgium and Portugal, as well as having represented the country at meetings of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries.
