TAP, China Development Bank in airliner sale-and-leaseback deal

China Development Bank has agreed to buy two airliners from TAP Air Portugal and then lease them back to the airline, Reuters reports.

The news agency says the planes are long-haul Airbus A330-900neos, and that the list price of such aircraft is about US$593 million each.

The report says the Atlantic Gateway consortium, the biggest shareholder in TAP, has ordered 14 Airbus A330-900neos.

The first should have been delivered last year but is now due to be delivered in July, Reuters says.
