Technology lets patients in Maputo consult medics in China

A hospital in the southwestern Chinese province of Sichuan has switched on an electronic system that lets patients in Mozambique consult its medical staff remotely, the Sichuan News website reports.

The official website says the system links the West China Hospital at Sichuan University to the Maputo Central Hospital in Mozambique.

The report quotes an official of the Communist Party of China, Zhang Wei, as saying at the switching-on ceremony that the link will enhance Sino-Mozambican cooperation in medicine, in teaching medicine and in scientific research.

The West China Hospital set up in June similar link with a hospital in São Tomé e Príncipe, the Sichuan News website says.
