Think tank says China’s economy grows at 6.8pct in second quarter

The State Information Centre of China expects the country’s economy to expand by 6.8 percent in the second quarter of this year, Reuters reports.

The report sees overall stable growth but “with a slightly slowing trend” in the second quarter of this year.

Inflation is forecast to hover around 1.4 percent and the producer price index will rise 6.5 percent in the second quarter.

The economy grew by 6.9 percent in the first quarter, the fastest result for a quarter this year. The government target established earlier this year was about 6.5 percent.
