A UN report predicts that the Guinea-Bissau economy will grow by 5.4 percent this year, making it the fastest-growing economy in the Portuguese-speaking world.
The World Economic Situation and Prospects 2018 report, compiled by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the UN Conference on Trade and Development, forecasts that gross domestic product in Guinea-Bissau will grow by 4.8 percent next year and 5.1 percent the year after.
The report predicts that East Timorese GDP will expand by 5.1 percent this year, 5.5 percent next year and 5.8 percent the year after.
It predicts that economic growth in São Tomé and Príncipe will be 5 percent this year and 5.3 percent in each of the following years.
Mozambican GDP will expand by 4.1 percent this year, Cape Verdean GDP by 3.9 percent, Angolan GDP by 1.9 percent, Portuguese GDP by 1.6 percent and Brazilian GDP by 0.7 percent, the UN report forecasts.
