Unemployment rate in Brazil falls to 12 pct in Q2

The unemployment rate in Brazil fell to 12 percent in the second quarter of this year from 11.3 percent in the first, declining for the third quarter in a row, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency, citing Brazilian official data, says 93.3 million Brazilians were in employment in the second quarter, 1.6 percent more than in the first.

Among them, 24.1 million were self-employed, 1.6 percent more than in the preceding quarter and the most in history.

Average earnings from employment fell by 1.3 percent in the second quarter, Xinhua says.
