Value of Mozambican govt-approved investment shrinks in 2017

The value of new investment in Mozambique approved by the government fell to US$2.1 billion last year from US$3.1 billion the year before, O País reports.

The Mozambican newspaper, citing official figures, says the number of new investments approved last year fell to 267, or 64 fewer than the year before.

The report says the annual value of new investment approved by the government fell steeply in the last five years.

The most important investment in Mozambique approved last year was the purchase by US oil company Exxon Mobil of 35.7 percent of the Rovuma natural gas project, O País says.
